A Fun Play about How Scary Climate Change Is

September 23, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Are you scared about the future? Do you feel climate despair? What’s your first memory of a storm? What’s a time you’ve leaned on a neighbor during a disaster? Do you think the world has ended, or has it just begun?

Join us for A FUN PLAY ABOUT HOW SCARY a comedic, site-specific, devised, free public performance, and is about striving for hope (not despair) in the face of climate change, with fantastical swamp creatures to teach us these lessons.

Come for the live theater and music, stay for the food, installation, and community talk-back about environmental justice afterwards. This event is completely free, for all ages, FUN, and will run for about 2 hours.

Directed and written by Sabina Sethi Unni; devised by Saskia Naidoo, Alex Scelso, Ray Jordan Achan, Spoorti Hedge, Talisa Velasquez; dramaturgy by Nikolas Michael; choreography by Shivani Bhirani  and Makayla Peterson; dhol by Jagpreet Singh; videography by Sonyi Lopez; additional support from Pallavi Sethi and Kanika Asavari Vaish. Supported by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Brooklyn Arts Council, and Amanda+James Coastlines Festival.
